You’re sending emails to people they’re opening them but no one’s clicking through back to your site what should you do hey everyone i’m neil patel and today i’m gonna teach you how to increase your email click-through rate.
the first thing you need to do is tell a story stories go back thousands and thousands of years it’s engaging it’s the same reason why you watch soap operas or movies is because you’re engaged and hooked into the story
when you tell a story people are gonna be reading your whole email instead of just skimming it and they’re much more likely to click the second thing you want to do is include multiple links the more links you throw in there the more clicks you’re gonna get now of course if you start including 1020 links you’re probably going to end up in people spam folder but you should include 2 to 3 links
when you include 2 to 3 links there’s a higher probability that someone’s gonna click on at least one of them and last but not least the anchor text of the link that you’re using should be casual
if you end up using an anchor text as a title of your webpage very few people are gonna click through but if your anchor text of the link in your email is something like follow these tips learn more here or follow these strategies people are much more likely to click through because they know it’s benefit driven follow those 3 tips you’ll get more clicks and people will end up going to your website and hopefully they’ll convert into leads or sales you
Hey everyone, it’s Neil Patel here and we’re here for another Q and A Thursday video. I’m here with Adam from Viewership. – Hey everyone! – And this week’s question is? – This is from Ashish and she says, or he says, “Hi Neil, how do I convince people to sign up for my email list?” – This is really simple.
I love this question. And the reason I say it’s simple is because it’s the most obvious thing that a lot of people don’t do and it’s funny, even with me, it’s those things that stare at you in front of your face that you’re looking at that you may not realize is there that you should be leveraging or doing.
So, you already know basic things like pop-ups. And yeah, you can do a pop-up. It’s gonna irritate people but you can use tools like Hello Bar to do a pop-up and you can cookie people, so that way they only see it once and they see it upon them leaving, that’s on exit.
When you’re doing a pop-up, it shouldn’t just be put in your email. – If I tell you and you come to my site, say put in your email, what are you gonna do? – No, click out of it. – Yes. But your goal on your website is to increase your traffic. You went from a thousand to 7,500 a day. – Right. – And if I told you I can take, teach you how to double your traffic in 30 days, what would you do? – Absolutely.
You would put in your email. – Definitely. – Make it really simple. Give them something that’s worthwhile.
Create an e-book, a course, something that’s super detailed and make that your opt-in. You can also do one in your side bar. The best one isn’t pop-ups, it’s not your side bar opt-ins, it’s gonna be content upgrades.
You can also create this within Hello Bar. It’s really simple. When someone’s reading a list like 10 ways to double your traffic, within the first three paragraphs, do a little opt-in box that says download the cheat sheet on 10 ways to double your traffic or download the cheat sheet and get 10 more bonus ways to double your traffic. That’ll be your highest converting offer ever.
I’ve tested out so many different variations. That crushes everything. Put them in there and you have to create unique ones for different blog posts, it takes more work but you’ll get the most amount of emails. You can do this all for free with Hello Bar. It doesn’t you a single dollar. Test it out, it works really well. Another thing that I tested, and we’ll show you this on the screen, I do a exit pop-up on neilpatel.com, where my exit pop-up shows an animation.
So mine tells you, hey do you wanna, I rank number one for online marketing, I’ll teach you how do this as well, and I show you in the background how I ranked number one and I show you a glimpse of what you’re gonna get when you opt-in. One of my highest converting opt-ins. The reason being is I’m not just telling you why you should opt-in, I’m showing you what you’re gonna get and you’re much more likely because when you put in your email, what’s your biggest fear? – That they’re just gonna spam you.
Yes. But if you show people, and I do this with a animated gif and again you can do this with Hello Bar for free, you’re much more likely to put in your email address. How do you collect emails from your site? – Three ways: through a webinar, through an opt-in, or through a quiz. – Yes. Webinars work really well. Quizzes, you can use lead quizzes. It converts extremely well. – Really high. – The problem with webinars is you won’t get the most amount of leads, but the amount of emails you get, although the amounts gonna decrease, they’ll be the highest quality of emails you get and they’re much more likely to convert into customer. Not only can you get them to convert right then and there, assuming you’re doing Evergreen webinars, through EverWebinar, but you can also get them to buy from you on the backend through up-sells, down-sells, drip campaigns. But that’s usually the way most people do emails. It’s not too much more complicated than that. You don’t need to do crazy things like create tools, or spend 20-30 thousand dollars doing anything crazy, just keep it simple. –
Totally. And just on that note, something I’ve recently done that’s doing really well is a quiz then the results page of the quiz, then they sign up for a webinar.
So, cause you get a really cheap– – That’s cool. – So you get really cheap quiz, quiz is like 15 cents per lead, but then whatever their result is, it’s like hey, now sign up for this webinar and I’m gonna teach you how to fix this problem. – Yeah, and that’s awesome. And you can do a few different webinars based on– – Their pain points. – Yeah, their pain points based on the quiz that they took. Amazing way to generate sales. Just get creative. And if you’re looking for more emails, write blog content, promote it on the web, we talked about Buzzsumo in the past.
You can also do really creative things like Adam’s saying here, is which, just buy ads. The moment you have monetization set up, you can scale this out using Facebook and Youtube ads. – For sure, for sure. – That’s pretty much it. If you have any questions or comments, leave them below. I’ll be there to answer. If you want something to be covered in the next week’s Q and A Thursday video, leave a comment, let us know, and we may pick it.

There’s over a billion blogs on the internet. Should you even waste your time with blogging? Hi everyone, I’m Neil Patel. And today I’m gonna share with you if blogging still works in 2019. (calm electronic music) Before we get started make sure you subscribe to this channel. The reason I want you to do that is when I release the next marketing video, you’ll get notified. Now I have a question for you.
Do you have a blog? If you do, leave a comment with yes. If you don’t, leave a comment with no. Before I answer the question if blogging still works in 2019, I’m gonna give you some tips on how to get the most out of your blog and then of course at the end I’ll answer the question. The first tip I have for you is don’t focus on quantity, focus on quality. With over a billion blogs, just imagine how many pieces of blog posts getting written every single day has to be in the thousands if not hundreds and thousands. I don’t know what the exact numbers. But I know there’s too much content on the web.
So much so that most of you guys aren’t going to read it. Just think about the basic math if there’s over a billion blogs and let’s say there’s 7 billion people, roughly, in this world, there’s one blog every seven people that’s too many blogs. So don’t focus on just writing and regurgitating the same information that’s already out there. Make sure anything you’re writing is new and unique. The web is craving for new information. Very few people are writing something that’s unique and hasn’t been out there before. If you do that you’ll get more social shares, you’re going to get more backlinks, you’re going to find that your blog posts will rank higher on Google.
So don’t focus on writing every single day. You could write once a week or once a month, pick whatever time you have and focus on writing amazing high quality posts. The second tip I have for you is respond to comments. When you get comments on your blog. You need to respond. Think of a blog as a communication channel. If a friend was talking to you and they ask you a question and you don’t respond that’ll be rude. That goes with your blog as well. If someone asks you a question you need to respond. Someone leaves a comment, should at least respond with thanks even if that comment doesn’t say much and if you’re not getting any comments, at the end of your blog post end it with a question mark. By ending it with a question statement not just a question mark but a whole question, you’ll find that all encourage more comments. The third tip I have for you is to encourage conversations. The way you do this is make blog posts conversational.
You want to use the words you and I within your blog post. By using the words you and I, it makes your blog posts feel more like a conversation such as wouldn’t you love how to double your search engine traffic, I know I would. Everyone says search optimizations hard, but you know what, It’s not impossible and today I’m going to share with you how I doubled my search traffic and you can too. Now I’m just making that up. I didn’t read a blog post on that, I probably should. But you can see how that’s conversational. By creating a conversation you’re going to get more comments. You also find that when keep it blog posts between five and six lines, It makes it easier skim. And the easier it is to skim your content, the more comments and conversations you’re gonna create.
The fourth tip I have for you is your blog isn’t gonna just miraculously get visitors and then convert those into customers. Most people like my blog getting all this traffic but I’m getting no sales, no customers you know why? It’s because you’re not adding call to actions. It’s okay to promote your business, it’s okay to promote your services your product if you don’t, you won’t get sales so put call to actions in your sidebar. Look what I do on “neilpatel.com” If you read my blog, you’ll see call to actions that drive you to my services page or my homepage and it’s a great way to generate more leads and sales. The fifth tip I have for you is to collect emails.
Have you heard the saying the money‘s in the list, it’s a very common thing in the digital marketing world. If you collect the emails, leave a comment with yes. If you don’t leave a comment below with no. Emails is one the most important things. You need to collect emails. If you have to take one thing away from this video. Go and collect emails. You can use a ton of free tools like “hellobar.com” to start collecting emails. Think of email collection as indeed. If you want a random person on the stream be like, will you marry me? Imagine me with a ring in my hand. And if you said that most people doesn’t matter, if you look like Brad Pitt, or Angelina Jolie, or Ronaldo, or any popular Kardashian, most people are going to say No. Why, because they don’t know you. But the moment you get to know people, they’re much more likely to say, yes.
You date someone for a year or two and then you ask them to marry you, they probably say yes. If they don’t better get out of there. Now what you want to do is collect emails and using tools like hellobar, you can create like a lead magnet, where you’re showcasing something like offering a free Ebook, double your traffic in 30 days. That’s example of an Ebook that I can create. Doing simple things like that will capture you way more emails. The sixth I have for you is start collecting push notifications. Similar to email, push notifications is easy way to get people back to your site. Using tools like subscribers is a great way to get people to subscribe just with a click of a button. Then when you release a new blog posts, you can notify and also I love this because then through that push notification list, you can also promote your products or your services.
The next if I have for you is leverage MobileMonkey. It’s another free tool, it leverages Chatbot. It’s super effective, I love it to death and it has amazing click through rates. I was talking with a guy named Ryan from HubSpot the other day and he was mentioning and now he works at G2 Crowd but he was mentioning how he gets over 90% click rates through Chatbot. Just imagine that 90%. You’re lucky if 10% of your email list click through. He’s talking about 90% and I’ve seen similar numbers. It’s very effective, I’m not at 90, but I’m above 70% right now. And of course over time it’ll go down but it’s still high. And the last thing and I mentioned I’ll cover this at the beginning. Does blogging work in 2019? It does, it’s just changed. Before you could create blog posts on anything, you’ll get traffic, you’ll rank high on Google and you’ll do well. That doesn’t work anymore, unless you’re writing unique, amazing content. And you’re putting in the time and effort to do all these other things. So just push people from your blog to your products and services to call to actions or collect emails or leverage push notifications.
You wont do well, it’s a combination of all those things that will make blogging do well in 2019. So thank you for watching.
